Somewhere In Between

I'm needing to make some room in my side of the shared studio/office, so I've reduced the price of some pieces from an older collection. Go check out the SALE section of my shop!

Also, I slipped on a patch of ice last night and skinned up my other hand. What's next, universe!? Some good news, though- the hubby and I are making a trip to see our parents tomorrow! I haven't seen my family since Christmas, so I'm really excited to hang out with them for a few hours. :)

As for today- dreaming up some Valentine's goodness for next month!

I wish you were more convincing...

...or I wish I were more gullible.

Typing is uncomfortable, so here's an outline of yesterday:

1. Job offer = acceptance
2. Stew preparation = cut finger
3. ER visit = tetanus shot + stitches
4. PAIN

Songbird

Two new pieces today:

To Pontificate

L-O-V-E

I'm already getting in the Valentine's mood. :) Perhaps I will have a holiday sale?

I've been really into a few Jillian Edwards songs the past few days. I was going to see her live with Sleeperstar last month at HOB, but it didn't work out. Maybe they will be at Taste Addison?

Well, happy Tuesday, kids!

Is It Soft and Slow?

Finished up another piece today that I really like. I can't seem to get a good photo of it, but here is the best that I can do with the fading light.

No Evil The Second

I'll probably re-shoot this one tomorrow morning when the light is better. Either way, I really enjoyed making this piece, and I am thrilled with how it turned out.

My interview went well, and now I play the waiting game!

The Moment I Said It

There's a new listing up at the shop:

Fat Kid Loves Cake

The greatest love in the world is the love between a fat kid and his cake.

I've got another interview this afternoon, and let's hope that it goes better than the ones last week! Wish me luck!

Candlelight

So, I finally got with it and created a facebook page for Shertown Studios. Please, please, pretty please go be a fan!

Suggest to your friends and I will love you forever. :)

Also, I am really enjoying "Candlelight" by Imogen Heap right now. Obvious, I know, but I love it so.

I Don't Think You're Ready For This Jelly

The best part of my day is getting to put on some tv for company and sitting down to paint. Some days I don't get to do this and I get grouchy. Like today. I did, however, get to photograph the latest piece, which is honestly my favorite thing in my store right now.

Cheese Course

You know, Bootylicious just came up on my iTunes. I'm not grouchy any more. :)

There are officially 50 people out there who like my store. This is an exciting thing!

Stay tuned in the next few days for some exciting new pieces!

Rake It In

My etsy shop hearts have reached 49! Just one away from my month goal! You know, this whole New Year's resolutions thing isn't half bad! Maybe just a third bad. Who knows, it may even one day prove to be only one quarter bad.

So, let's validate my ambitions by fulfilling an arbitrary quota! I think we can do one heart in nine days.

Honestly, it is just super exciting when I know that people are looking at my shop. Little ol' me. Little ol' Shertown Studios. We'll make it to the big time one day. :)

Breakfast After Ten

Two interviews this afternoon (what!what!) This is quite the nerve-wracking experience. On a brighter side, my nervous energy has caused me to (finally) clean my work area, and I can now see my desk! Who knew it was brown? "Not I," said the Little Pig.

Currently Reading: Candide by Voltaire. Anyone have thoughts on this particular work? It has been...interesting so far. I am excited to read Operation Shylock (Roth) next. One of my "resolutions" has been to read at least one book every month, but I'd really like to make this number higher. And to think that I complained about being forced to read in school. Oh, hindsight! You are, indeed, 20/20!

It's just about nap time...

But, before I do that, I would like to share a few things that I have been working on lately.

Sport Ball

Piña Colada

I haven't posted any of my culinary successes lately, so here are a few of my recent favorites:

Spaghetti and Meatballs- This was way too fun to make. I like *constructing* my food.

Spaghetti with Meatballs

Cheesy Chicken-Vegetable Soup- I like soup. I like cheese. This was a match made in heaven.

Cheesy Chicken-Vegetable Soup

Lemon and Herb Marinated Pork Tenderloins- My first attempt at a meat other than beef or chicken. A great success in my book.

Lemon and Herb Marinated Pork Tenderloins

My little personal cookbook has almost thirty entries, which makes me proud in this probably pathetic way. Please understand, I do not share photos of the comical little meals I cook because I'm proud or self-important; it is because I am still amazed every time that I make something edible. I am that bad of a cook.

I am, however, a fabulous baker. ;)

Although the outlook has been bleak...

...I have an interview tomorrow, two on Thursday, and a previous interview which has gotten me to the next round! None of them are the Dream Job (not that I am remotely qualified for the Dream Job), but it's about time to start paying the bills, so I'm just excited to be interviewing.

Birthday Dinner (Dish)

This is the first birthday has actually freaked me out. Think about it- 24 is just a year away from 25, which is practically 30, which might as well be 40, which means that I am basically about two steps away from being a decrepit old lady. Ack!!

Then again, I might be acting a little over dramatic. :)

New Art...From Other People!

Purchasing art from super talented etsy sellers is one of my favorite things to do. I plan to have my apartment fully decorated with amazing new art by the end of the year! Here are my first two acquisitions of 2010:

Second Level by James E. Thurman
Second Level by James E. Thurman

The Flock by Crooked Hue
The Flock by Crookedhue

Go check out their shops because both of these artists are so, so amazingly talented!

My birthday is Sunday. OMG, I am going to be old.

BUGABUGABUGA

I have been going gangbusters getting stuff done, and I'm still behind on everything! Whew! Well, anyway, here are some pretty pictures of some pretty things I have been making.

First of all, the watercolors! Who knew that there were paints other than acrylics? Crazy talk.

Lightswitch Rave

Mustard

Counter Clockwise

StickySticky NomNom

And, my newest canvas panel piece. The canvas is a little wonky from water damage, so it is super on sale. Just saying. ;)

Salutation

In some other good news, I am up to 46 etsy hearts! My mad arithmetic skillz tell me that I am only four hearts away from my monthly goal of 50! I hope to be able to cross this one off my goal list soon. :)

Thanks again to everyone who has gone and looked at my shop. The encouragement really keeps me going.

Things are going to work in 2010!

New Year...

Etsy Dallas! Is this not awesome? I have applied to be a member. I hopehopehope that I am accepted! What a wonderful way to meat and share with other creators! Keep your fingers crossed for me. ;)

Holding my head high and soldiering on. Salude!

...new resolutions. I will not bore you with the details, but I am keeping a list, and checking off my life to-do's daily. One of this month's goals is, as I have mentioned before, to network my little butt off online, get the word out about Shertown Studios, and get 50 etsy hearts before February. As of today, I am up to 44! So close! Thanks to everyone who has looked at the shop and shown it a little love.

On another etsy-related note, I just discovered this thing:

And, in a continued effort to remain positive, some exciting up-coming events:
1. Job interview tomorrow (eek!)
2. Opening reception at Kettle Art for Common Ground on the 16th
3. My birthday the next day! Gooooooo 24! Woohooooo!

I feel better already. :)

Big News

As of today, I have reached 40 hearts on etsy. What are "hearts," you might ask? Well, this basically means that 40 people think that I am awesome. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me get 50 hearts by the end of this month.

Can we do it?

YES, WE CAN.

Also, I want this:

From Kukubee. Go give them some love.
